Biography

Rebecca Patrick is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Economics (UDSE). She holds a Master of Science in Development Economics, a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, and an Ordinary Diploma in Irrigation Engineering.

Before joining the University of Dar es Salaam, she worked with the African Development Bank (AfDB) in the Sovereign Market Risk unit. In this role, she contributed to the preparation of credit assessments and country risk notes for several African countries. She also supported the bank’s annual rating and exposure limit exercises. Her work played a key role in informing the bank’s risk management strategies and lending decisions.

Research Interest

Her research interests span Development Economics, Well-being Economics, and Environmental and Climate Economics. Within Development Economics, she focuses on issues such as poverty and inequality, education, unemployment, food security, and access to sanitation. She is also deeply interested in Well-being Economics, particularly the economics of happiness and mental health, examining how economic growth and public policies shape life satisfaction, psychological well-being, and quality of life. In addition, she explores topics within Environmental and Climate Economics, with a focus on the socio-economic impacts of climate change and the role of policy in fostering resilience and sustainable development.
