The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is set to deepen its collaboration with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) following a high-level meeting held at the TRA Headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The meeting brought together the TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Mwenda and UDSM management led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Finance and Administration), Prof. Bernadeta Killian, who was accompanied by Prof. Siasa Mzenzi, Director of Planning, Development and Investment, and CPA Mussa Shantom.

“UDSM has demonstrated remarkable leadership by setting up a functional unit specifically to enhance tax compliance and accountability. We expect this to be a benchmark for all higher education institutions,” said Mr. Mwenda.
The Commissioner General also urged the University to expand its investment projects to not only strengthen its financial sustainability but also contribute to broadening the national tax base. “UDSM’s growing investment portfolio can play a vital role in advancing Tanzania’s tax collection landscape,” he emphasized.
On her part, Prof. Killian reaffirmed UDSM’s commitment in maintaining high standards of transparency and compliance, noting that the University welcomes continued collaboration with TRA in training, research, and policy advisory on fiscal management.
“Our shared goal is to ensure that UDSM becomes a role model in compliance and a key partner in supporting national economic development through responsible fiscal practices,” she said.
In this meeting both parties also agreed to foster tax compliance education to operationalize their collaboration in tax compliance, staff training, and investment advisory support.
