The academic community gathered at Nkrumah Hall today 03 May, 2025 to bid farewell to Prof. Martha Ambrose Qorro, a distinguished linguist, educator, and advocate for language policy reform, who passed away on April 30, 2025. The solemn ceremony celebrated her enduring contributions to Tanzanian education and language development.

The Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) of the University of Dar es Salaam is excited to announce 2 scholarship opportunities for MSc studies. The scholarships are generously funded through a research project titled “Enhancing Coastal Resilience: Integrating Cost-Effective Technologies and Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Tanzania (ENCORE-TZ)” commissioned by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH).
A COSTECH funded climate friendly agriculture titled Improving Banana Yield and Value Addition to Banana Waste for Climate Friendly Banana farming has set aside fund to sponsor two MSc. Students. The project is working at improving banana productivity through the use environmental friendly Humic and Fulvic Acids to reduce clearing of forests for more agricultural land; and adding value to banana waste, in particular: fibre extraction from the pseudo stem, production of black soldier fly larvae (animal feed protein) and animal feed and ethanol from banana fibre decortication waste.
