Venance Timothy is a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies at Dar es Salaam University College of Education. He holds a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences from Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, Germany, as well as a Master of Education Science and a Bachelor of Education in Science from the University of Dar es Salaam. His research focuses on science education, particularly physics education and pre-service teacher training programmes. He is interested in teaching effectiveness, independent study, and inquiry learning. Collaborating with researchers from LMU, he conducted a meta-analysis on studies aimed at developing diagnostic competences in teacher and medical education. Dr Timothy has been affiliated with the Munich Centre of the Learning Sciences (MCLS) and the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI). Also, Dr Timothy has served as an external examiner for Ph.D. candidates and has been involved in multidisciplinary research projects.
