Prof. Peter Kamuzora is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Dar es Salaam and a holder of a PhD in Health Policy from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. His academic and research areas of focus are health and development, health policy, health systems analysis and knowledge translation. Prof. Kamuzora has a long experience of conducting and leading health systems research in Tanzania.  He has been Principal Investigator (PI) and coordinator of a number of  studies, including the Health Systems Research part of the Tanzania Essential Health Interventions Project (TEHIP), which tested innovations in district-level planning, priority setting, and resource allocation; Strengthening fairness and Accountability in health systems priority setting for improving equity and access to quality health care at district level in Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia (REACT) and Strengthening decentralized management to improve performance of health workers in Sub-Saharan Africa countries (PERFORM). Prof. Kamuzora has also a long experience of organizing and conducting capacity building projects in the field of health policy and health systems analysis.  After leading a health policy analysis capacity building project in Tanzania for three years he is now a member of the Collaboration for Health Policy and Systems Analysis in Africa (CHEPSAA), a network dealing with increasing capacity of African Universities and health systems to produce and use health policy and health systems analysis information. He is also a member of the National Health Policy and Systems (NAHEPOS) network, which is about promoting use of evidence from research in policy making in health systems in Tanzania.
