Dr. Monica Shilereyo is a lecturer at the Department of Zoology and Wildlife Conservation within the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Dar Es Salaam. She has been a member of staff at UDSM since 2014. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Shilereyo holds both BSc. and MSc. degree in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture. Then she earned her PhD in Biology, in the Department of Biology from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, (NTNU).

Dr. Shilereyo has the passion, skills and knowledge in wildlife ecological research and Human-Wildlife Interaction. She is now expanding her area of research into Political Ecology by trying to establish how power inequality both socially and politically affect biodiversity conservation decisions. She lectures a number of topics including general ecology, environmental sciences, Range Ecology, Community Based Conservation and Conservation of Biodiversity in Inhabited Areas.  She has specific interest in population ecology of small mammals, Health risks associated with human wildlife interactions and Human Wildlife Conflicts and Mitigations.
