Prof. Benedict Mongula holds a Master degree in Economics from Carleton University and a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is Associate Professor in the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) of the University of Dar es Salaam. He has published and carried out various research assignments for Government, Civil Society Organizations and international organizations in policy and programme development and assessment, participatory economic development, and capacity building. Formerly IDS Graduate Degrees Coordinator Prof. Mongula also led a six-year collaborative project between IDS and Huron University College of the University of Western Ontario on Civil Society Capacity building that oversaw strengthening of IDS capacity and outreach activities in Monduli District. His recent research has been on Large –scale agricultural investments in Tanzania.
