Mr Abel Ahungu is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Wildlife Conservation, University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Wildlife Science and Conservation at the University of Dar es Salaam in the year 2010. Two years later (2012), he was offered a scholarship by COSTEC to undertake MSc in Life Sciences at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) Arusha, Tanzania.
His MSc thesis entitled ‘Assessing the Effectiveness of Mass Dog Vaccination Coverage Campaign in Eradication of Rabies to Human and Wild Animals” was carried out around Serengeti Ecosystem. Mr Ahungu completed his MSc in November, 2014 and in 2015, he got employed at the University of Dar es Salaam in the position of Assistant Lecturer. He currently teaches and supervises various undergraduate courses in the fields of Ecology, Entomology, Natural Resources and Biodiversity.
His research interests are in the areas of Biodiversity Conservation, Wildlife Managements in relation to anthropogenic activities, wildlife conflicts and resource shrinkage, and Population Ecology of invertebrates and large mammals.
Mr. Ahungu is currently doing his PhD in Ecology at the Northeast Normal University, Changchun, Jilin Province in the People’s Republic of China from 2018 to 2022. He is researching on the interaction of invertebrates and large mammals in Serengeti National Park.
