Kessy is an assistant lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a Master of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Southampton, Master of Mathematical Modelling from the University of Dar-es-Salaam, Master of Mathematical Sciences from AIMS-Tanzania, and Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Dar-es-Salaam.
Kessy is currently a Ph.D. student in the department of Risk and Actuarial Studies at the University of New South Wales. His research is at the frontier of statistical machine learning and actuarial sciences. He aims to apply the advanced data analytics techniques to both individual and population level data in order to increase the prediction accuracy of the mortality rates.
Kessy has also completed eight Core Technical (CTs) Actuarial Professional Exams offered by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries UK (IFOA). He has a keen interest in applying actuarial skills in solving real problems related to pricing, reserving, credit risk modelling, and employer’s benefits valuations among others facing insurance companies, pension funds, banks, and other financial institutions. His interest revolves around Human Mortality Modelling, Statistical Machine Learning, and Credit Risk Modelling.
