1-MPANGUKO DANIEL

Daniel studied Chinese for one and a half years in SAUT. He passed HSK level 3 with a perfect mark 280/300, which makes him got the First-Class reward and certificate from Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es salaam.

2-KAMUGISHA ADELINA

ADELINA passed HSK level I and HSK level II with excellent marks during one-year study in SAUT. She got the First-Class reward and certificate from Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es salaam.

Cultural activities

1-Experience Chinese calligraphy

The activities focus on practicing in Chinese writing. Students will get more experience and chance to know the history of Chinese simple character.

2-Chinese white and blue porcelain

“China” is well known as a porcelain by all of the Chinese in China. And white and blue porcelain is one of the most famous in all china. Students get knowledge and do some paper handcraft.

3-Beijing opera and its mask

Beijing opera is proverbial in China, even in other countries. People love the colorful masks and the songs, and the facial make-up is a unique part of Beijing opera. Students do some mask-making by using different colors and enjoy some Beijing opera.

4-Chinese dictation competition

Chinese character is a challenging part for Chinese learners. This kind of competition can encourage them to do writing in Chinese character and have confidence when they do continue learning. The first competition for last semester in SAUT, the winner ADELINA got the First Class by only making one mistake.

Activities coming soon

1-Chinese Traditional umbrella

Students are going to do the handcraft (make an umbrella) by using the papers, and as a Chinese traditional umbrella, it has a long history. The paper for making umbrella will be covered by the Tung oil (a China wood oil) which can prevent the umbrella from rain.

2-Chinese Shadow puppets

Chinese Shadow puppetry, one of the oldest traditional handcrafts and performing arts in the world, appeared in China long before the invention of motion pictures and television. Students will be going to enjoy the video and have an chance to taking experience about the performance.

3-Telling story through doing shadow puppets

Students will have a chance to tell a story in Chinese by using the shadow puppets. This is an interesting way for students do some speaking practice.

 

School environment

St. Augustine University of Tanzania, located in victory lakeside, is known for its humid and mild climate, charming scenery. SAUT has 26 lecture rooms in all and a library which is constructed by Chinese company. And Chinese teachers have their own office with one computer and one projector.
