On 11th October, the High Level Business Forum for Tanzania and China Experts, motivated by the “Belt and Road” Initiative and co-organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Tanzania and China Alumni Association of Tanzania (CAAT), was successfully held in the Kilimanjaro Hotel. Mr. Seif Ali Iddi, Second Vice President of Zanzibar Ambassador, Ms. Wang ke, Ambassador of China in Tanzania, and Mr. Caesar Waitara, from Foreign Affairs, Director of Asia and Australasia attended the opening ceremony. The Forum is hosted by Dr. Liggyle Vumilia, Chairman of CAAT.

 

Mr. Seif Ali Iddi, Second Vice President of Zanzibar

 

Mr. Seif Ali Iddi said that the friendly relations between Tanzania and China have become a model of Africa-China relations. He pointed out that Tanzania and China should strengthen industrial cooperation. China has been sharing the fruits of the Reform and Opening-Up Policy with Africa. Tanzania should learn from its development experience. He also mentioned that the two Confucius institutes and two Confucius classrooms in Tanzania have brought more learning opportunities to Tanzanian youth.

 

Ms. Wang Ke, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania

 

Ms. Wang Ke delivered a speech to congratulate the successful opening of this forum. She said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Tanzania. The friendship between two countries was forged by Mr. Julius Nyerere and Mr. Mao Zedong and other leaders of the two countries. She believed that the CAAT will unite the alumni together and apply the knowledge and professional skills learned in China to the development and construction of Tanzania in various fields, so as to further promote the development of Tanzania and the win-win cooperation between China and Tanzania.

After the Opening Ceremony, Prof Liu Yan delivered a report entitled BRI and the Cooperation between Tanzania and China in Language and Cultural Exchange. He pointed out that language is an important tool for people to communicate and the basis of China-Tanzania cooperation. Under the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, we must conduct two-way exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between Chinese and Africa people while strengthening cooperation between China and Africa,. The mission of the Confucius Institute is to promote China-Tanzania language and cultural exchanges, to provide a platform and a link for cooperation between China and Tanzania and to provide services for China-Tanzania cooperation. He said that Confucius Institute will continue to provide Kiswahili language training classes for the Chinese people in Tanzania.

This forum gathered the experts from both Tanzania and China to discuss the cooperation and development between the two countries in various fields. The face-to-face communication between the two sides deepened mutual understanding and further promoted the cooperation between the two nations in economy, trade and other fields.
