Welcoming Note from the Faculty Dean

Greetings!

On behalf of all our faculty, staff and students, I am pleased to welcome you to the Faculty of Education at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE). The Faculty of Education is an excellent choice to prepare for a successful career. Being a Faculty within a university college, we provide an incredible opportunity for our students to excel in a forward thinking in a rich academic environment. This is the place where education hugs science; so, our graduates are professionally educated teachers. Our faculty are friendly, welcoming and accommodating!

We are committed to providing a solid foundation in educational sciences with hands-on experiential learning environment and opportunities to practice teaching with educational institutions in the country. The Faculty provides exciting educational opportunities for students from all backgrounds and locations. We offer many different courses of study that prepare students for success in the real world. The faculty are dedicated professionals who excel in connecting with students and providing educational experience equal to that of any university. Currently, there are over 1400 student enrolments in our undergraduate and graduate programmes.

The Faculty offers two undergraduate degree programmes namely: Bachelor of Education in Science (B.Ed. Science) and Bachelor of Education in Arts (B.Ed. Arts). In addition, the Faculty offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Evening Programme). On top of that, the Faculty is developing two graduate programmes for the aim of opening up new opportunities for students and staff to grow in educational sciences through research and public service.

We are extremely proud of our 40 faculty and university lecturers who breathe life and excitement into our courses and pursue scholarly research in a myriad of areas. The Faculty is developing a research centre which shall provide opportunities for our faculty and students to pursue advanced research in education.

Our faculty has collaborated with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and other interested partners in building capacity for educational officials and teachers in area of reading, writing and arithmetic (3Rs) for pupils in Standards I and II. Also, our faculty is proud of its rich culture of diversity and inclusive excellence that makes MUCE an exciting place to work and learn.
