The Coordinator ‘Post Graduate Studies and Research’ invited the entire DUCE community, researchers, stakeholders, acquaintances, and the general public to the 6th University of Dar es Salaam Research and Innovation Week held from 27th to 29th at DUCE campus.

The theme of this year’s Research Week was ‘Research and Innovation for Sustainable Industrial and Social Development in Tanzania.’

Speaking during the opening research week, the Principal of Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Prof. Stephen Maluka urged Academicians in the country to continue actively engage in research projects that directly contribute in solving various problems, particularly unemployment.

He said researchers must be part of the solution to challenges that face the country and the World at large. In underscoring the importance of research, the Principal instructed:

As we begin another weeklong event, let me urge researchers to think outside the box, and come up with solutions which will help in addressing the challenges of unemployment both within and outside the country

He further called upon other higher learning institutions in the country to organize similar events in their respective premises.

On his part, Temeke District Commissioner, Mr. Godwin Gondwe, who graced the event, urged researchers to use research findings for bringing positive changes in the country. He said:

Do not shelf your research findings. let people have access to them for mutual development…

During the week, the College researchers and innovators demonstrated their projects and shared their findings with the broader public.
