DUCE has heightened measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in school environs as the gates of the demonstration schools re-opens this week.

The measures include ensuring that all the directives to mitigate the spread or the virus responsible for Covid-19 pandemic are adhered to.

On Monday, demonstration schools organized health education session when the children were received back one month after universities were re-opened.

Both pupils in primary school and students in secondary school were given health education on Coronavirus and how it transfers from one person to other.

They were also told that frequent washing of hands with water and soap helped to destroy the virus, hence stop the spread.

The compound inside the schools was dotted with foot operated hand washing machines and pupils and students were taught how to use them.

‘Just gently press the pedal using your foot and you are ready to wash your hand,’ they were told in the morning before classes started on Monday. Other measures taken include exhorting students to wear proper face masks and use hand sanitizers.
