The Gender Awareness and Transformation through Education – GATE, saw its External Board Members for the first time in a meeting recently. GATE is a joint project between the Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and DUCE and is solely funded by the Irish Aid.

Speaking during the board meeting, the Acting Principal of DUCE, Prof. Stephen Maluka, welcomed the members saying DUCE works closely with GATE to ensure that its mission is accomplished hundred percent.

According to Dr. Susan Murphy, GATE’s PI TCD side, the board’s role is that of advising and that day to day activities of GATE are coordinated by GATE team members themselves.

The board members accepted the invitation to become members of the advisory board of GATE urging the team members to ensure the set objectives are met.

GATE External Board members are Prof. Penina Mlama (University of Dar es Salaam), Prof.  Mary Crewe (University of Pretoria), Dr. Rose Mwaipopo (University of Dar es Salaam), Prof. Anne Looney (Dublin City University), and Mr. Gerald Mweli (President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government).

GATE PI DUCE side is Dr. Perpetua Urio. GATE Project Coordinator is Ms. Linda Lumbasi from TCD. GATE team members are Dr. Consolata Chua, Dr. Christina Raphael, and Dr. Ikupa Moses.
