On 22nd March 2023, DUCE Management conducted a seminar on health issues. The objective of the seminar was to bring to DUCE community the sense of being responsive to good health at work place.

In his welcoming note, the College Principal (PFA), Prof. Stephen Maluka, congratulated the Staff for attending the seminar. He said staff members should have a tendency of conducting health check-ups, since the habit will avoid any impending problems, and hence maintain body fitness.

Speaking during the seminar, the facilitator, Prof. Andrew Swai said non-communicable diseases are those diseases that cannot be transmitted through parasites. Prof. Swai spent much time in describing symptoms and controlling mechanism of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes.   

In efforts to strengthen health, Prof. Swai recommended workers to consult health care providers and maintain health education related to non-communicable diseases. He also asked workers to reduce stress, eat balanced meal, participate in physical exercises, avoid overweight, and maintain happiness.

On the other hand, Dr. Isaac Maro from Afya Check Institute spoke on the spread, symptoms and controlling mechanisms of HIV Aids.

The seminar benefited the Staff as it increased access to health services and promoted the sense of early management of health condition.
