The Sabasaba exhibitions took place at Mwalimu Nyerere trade fair grounds from 28th June to 13th July 2022. In this year, the showcasing was supported by the theme ‘Tanzania; Your best destination for business and investment’

DUCE showcased research products and services at UDSM building. The first pavilion had exhibitors who marketed college undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and various short courses. The exhibitors in this pavilion guided various candidates on admission procedures. They also showcased the college journals, college newsletters and books. Similarly, the platform had an opportunity to market demonstration schools and health services found in the college.

The second pavilion exhibited project findings done by Dr. Aldo Kitalika and his colleagues. The co-members in the same project are Dr. Petro Mabeyo, Dr. Elinaso Elimbinzi, Dr. Silvia John, Mr. Said Abeid and Mr. Makungu Madirisha. Their research title was ‘The Potential of Abandoned Wastes for Production of Cement Alternative Engineering Materials: A Means to Combine a Challenge of Climate and Materials Development’. The team managed to innovate alternative cement using cheap agro wastes, carbon dioxide, clay soil, material rock and other binding materials available in Tanzania. The new cement can be utilized in production of bricks, ceramic tiles and other building materials. It is assumed that the alternative cement will be sold at half price comparing to the current Portland cement.

The showcasing was graced by distinguished visitors including Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi (Member of Parliament), Prof. Willium Anangisye (Vice Chancellor - UDSM) and Prof. Bonaventure Rutinwa (DVC-Academic). Others were Prof. David Mfinanga (DVC-Administration), Prof. Bernadeta Killian (DVC-Research) and Prof. Amani Lusekelo (Acting Director-Research and Innovation).

The opening day was officiated by the Secretary General of the African Continental, Free Trade Area, H.E Wamkele Mene who was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Eat African Cooperation, Hon. Liberata Mulamula.
